http://www.antellus.com Antellus Gets a Makeover For Spring 2010 The publisher strikes off in a different direction with its books and ebooks by bundling books for sale, adding used books to its catalog, and launching a direct mail service to reach readers. In a move to make its site more navigable and offer more value to online shoppers, Antellus has inaugurated a series of "bundles" of books and ebooks, and added used books to its online catalog. "After conducting a survey of what readers are looking for, we decided to offer more for less by grouping books by their relevence and selling them as bundles in addition to our individual books," author and CEO Theresa M. Moore said. "By offering the current books at discounted prices and reduced shipping, we hope to bring hungry readers directly to us instead of Amazon for sales of our own books." Bundles being offered for sale include a set of all current Children of The Dragon series SF/Vampire books, a corresponding set of PDF ebooks, and bundled sets of nonfiction books and ebooks. The bundles are priced at less than the total of books sold individually set with a lower shipping charge. "In the case of the vampire books, we will offer the first seven now, and buyers of the bundle will be able to purchase the next few books at a special price." The site hosts buy buttons for all its products and maintains its shopping cart through PayPal. It has also created a mail order form for shoppers as an alternative. "We recognize that there are some book lovers who would rather do things the old fashioned way, and that they may not trust the safe and secure environment of an online shopping cart for a myriad of personal reasons, including privacy," Moore added. Though PayPal does process payments like direct banking and credit cards, online visitors may lack access to computers on a regular basis, making the concept of direct banking online beyond their reach. The form enables one to order by email or snailmail and provides a voucher which is printed off and mailed with the payment. The form can also be used for international orders to the UK and Canada. "We want to reach people who do not want to deal with Amazon or get entangled with online banking," Moore continued. "As a long time reader and selective buyer of books I know how difficult it can be to purchase quality for hard won dollars in this tough economic environment." The books are available only online through Antellus and Amazon, while ebooks are being offered for Kindle, in PDF format and separately in epub format through Smashwords. Free preview PDFs dowloaded from the site enable to readers to sample the books before they buy. As the publishers adds more books to its catalog, the hope is to create an online bookstore people can trust. Antellus is a privately owned independent publisher located in Sherman Oaks, California.
