Email Friend Contact Author (ePrintWire.Org) – BOCA RATON, Fla. and SANTA CLARA, Calif.—CRC Press has partnered with Atypon™, a leading software provider that enables publishers to manage, deliver, and monetize their digital content, in the development of CRCnetBASE 2.0. The new web platform utilizes Atypon’s software to combine all CRCnetBASE e-book content onto one website. New features include individual book and chapter purchases, the ability to search across all disciplines, and built-in institutional account management.
For the first time, users are able to access the entire CRCnetBASE catalog of online content from one website, allowing them to conduct searches across multiple disciplines. John Lavender, CRC Press Senior Vice President of Editorial and Marketing explains, "When CRCnetBASE was launched in 1999, we were the first publisher to make available libraries of books in an easy to use web based platform. With the launch of CRCnetBASE 2.0, we are taking the concept further by having just one search screen to view all our high quality content making it easier for our customers to find and access our content." "With the relaunch of CRCnetBASE, CRC Press is making its content more discoverable and usable than ever before," said Kevin Cohn, Director of Product Management for Atypon. "Despite all of their content now being available through a single platform, CRC Press retains the ability to create and sell subject-based collections or custom packages as required by their customers." The new platform also allows users to create personalized accounts where they can save queries, place favorite content onto a virtual bookshelf, purchase individual chapters or e-books, and recommend content to friends. Institutional account management tools are integrated within the new platform. Registered library administrators can view their IP ranges, add additional administrators, download COUNTER usage reports, and personalize their institutions site directly from their user account. Academic and corporate subscribers will continue to receive IP recognition access to CRCnetBASE.com with additional options for Athens and Shibboleth logins. In addition to e-books published under the imprint of CRC Press, CRCnetBASE also includes online references from Auerbach and Chapman & Hall. Today, CRCnetBASE offers subscription and purchase access to over 6,000 scientific and technical e-books spanning 40 disciplines. Annual subscriptions and perpetual subscriptions are available for institutional, corporate, and academic customers.
