Email Friend Contact Author (ePrintWire.Org) – Many retailers have jumped on the bandwagon of providing discount codes, they tend to be used as a way of getting rid of old stock or as a way of ramping up sales at the end of a financial period. Indeed the vast majority of discount codes are specifically aimed at an event like Mothers Day or Easter and tend to be a hook to get the user to either buy more than one item (eg: 2 for 1 when you use xxx discount code) or simply money off.
What many retailers are realising is that discount and voucher codes can actually be used for a whole lot more than just getting extra sales. A few select savvy retailers are putting into practise what has been one of the most obvious uses of voucher codes. That of using a specific voucher code as a tracking channel for sales. The problem with any form of sales conversion tracking is it relies on the customer maintaining either a cookie or being accurate when stating how they came to purchase - with a discount code, this is largely eliminated. One such online retailer who is making attempts at using discount codes as a channel tracking tool is JeanzUnLtd, they have created a voucher code which is only available by users on http://www.ukoffer.com Of course, it would be possible for this code to be widely spread around the internet but at least that still shows to the retailer (JeanzUnLtd) that http://www.ukoffer.com is receiving genuine web traffic and people are finding the voucher for the voucher to have been peculated out there in the first place. # # #
